All alone upon the shore, gazing out to sea
Where the horizon calls me.
Sun is low, all aglow;
Seagulls fly so free.
All alone upon the shore, the view, rare scenery;
The colors melt in beauty:
Gold pristine, tangerine,
Magenta, lilac, pale blue green.
Where are you?
Ahh, I miss you so.
Two footprints in the sand, two prints not four
I don’t understand.
My feet move faithfully, yours move in treachery;
Can’t you see that they’ve carried you
Away from me? Why? I don’t know.
All alone upon the shore, crickets start to sing.
The watercolor’s fading.
No more sun/the day is done.
Emptiness and sting.
All alone upon the shore, in moonlight, tears do bring
the thought that a more fleeting
precious prize than painted skies
would be to see the light in your eyes
