Running in the Rain

Open windows, curtains still as stone.
Waking up I find I’m all alone.
With aching head I feel the dread of memories tucked away.
Must move, must run, must face another day.
Thunder rumbles, curtains start to blow.
Dark clouds birthing raindrops swell and grow.
Those sleepless nights and careless fights are driving me insane.
Guess I will go running in the rain.
Running, running in the rain.
Cools the heat, eases the pain.
Works my body, rests my brain.
I’ll think no longer, I’ll breathe again.
Cool wash of water, fresh and clean,
Dilute the tempest of my being.
Drops coalesce, one salty, one pure.
Forever changed, the blend will endure.
