The Now

Traveling to a place, things look familiar
But something has changed, could be the weather
Maybe the trees, changing with seasons
Perhaps the people, a crowded ticket station
Hard to say, hard to tell but something aint right
Always the present, flicking the light
The stars in the sky, the smell in the air
Sparks on the fly, hearing a cheer
This is the place, no clock can find
Nothing to trace, nothing to bind
Nobody to teach, nowhere to go
Never escape, the you to know
Going a bit further, shouldn’t be much longer
Try looking over, try looking under
Maybe to the right, maybe to the left
Could be straight ahead, behind is a theft
Probably some curves, whenever not ready
Testing the nerves, without much certainty
Keeping eyes open, like they do any good
Except when I’m dreaming, but that’s understood
This is the place, no clock can find
Nothing to trace, nothing to bind
Nobody to teach, nowhere to go
Never escape, the you to know
Will I have enough, energy to continue
Just about there, start to feel a tingle
Trying to capture, never done yet
The highest of odds, no takers to bet
Just the way it goes, on the long winding road
Never going down, plateau has a moat
Setting up a tent, staring at the sky
Another day is spent, savings running dry

Waking up again, will I find it today
Who can I ask, to point out the way
Maybe at work, but time equals money
At least some say, never had any honey
It’ll never leave you alone, as long as you’re alive
Only when you’re cold, to lay down and die
That was then, this is now, future nowhere to be found
Getting busy looking, for that unknown ground
