I Can Barely Stand

The problem with drinking is losing the thinking
No longer aware of the audience
And what you find funny, is dreaming of money
All of the choices and wants
So what do you do, when falling to fool
With all of the jokes set up
Let the punch lines ring, a smile to bring
If not, fill another cup
All I’d like to do is sit back and relax
Maybe if lucky have a few laughs
If you think I’m getting out of hand
Not to worry, I can barely stand
Speak too loud, from too many rounds
Landing on a reaching ear
It could be funny, or even some envy
Laughing at another’s fears
Otherwise confusion, will not be amusing
The joke lost in the wind
Thinking it’s about them, the ongoing trend
Might as well throw it in the bin

It might seem all wrong, going too strong
But you have to understand
To find the dreams, from a different scene
Have to lose all your hands
While certainly not needed, it’s an ancient healing
Call it a crutch if you will
I’ll have another please, maybe some mead
Or a week old glass of swill
