Napoleon

The emperor Napoleon sitting in his study
one hand around his sweating mouth
the other round his tummy
while Josephine awaits for him
in a bedful of loathing
the ground beneath his weary feet
looks like a sea of flowers
hungry meat-eating beasts ready to devour
anything that steps on them, any sign of danger
and so he ran out to the garden outside Longwood manor
with guards and servants all alarmed by his twisted behaviour
and then he knelt down on the grass and reached for the guard’s cutlass
to fight away the screaming hordes of shadow-looking monsters
and then they all surrounded him
his porcelain-looking enemies
a fight broke out eternally
and someone said 'oh shit I think Napoleon is dead'
what poison ran through his veins
what made the man insane
they all pointed at each other
while Josephine laughed and cried
with tears around her ghostly eyes
and arms wide open begging for
her husband’s touch
hungry like the sea
