Boozey late nights in the city
Can be a lot of fun
But you shouldn’t do them
With just anyone

There’s a chance you can be a jerk
And you don’t want to act that way
Around people who can give you work

Because it’s happened to me
One night I drank with TV suits
Till half past three
When they asked me my opinion
I should have known that I’d get burned
I couldn’t say things nicely
Now my calls don’t get returned
Drinking with industry, you’re rolling the dice
'Cause after seven car bombs it’s just too hard to be nice
And they won’t see the pleasant guy that they know from stage
When you let out your deeply seeded rage
And god forbid the person from the industry’s a chick
And you with your martini think that you look pretty slick
You take a chance and you lean in in hopes of making out
You wake up the next week and your career starts going South, South Soww…
Did I really do that?
I’m not saying ignore them
Or not to socialize
You just need to look well-adjusted in their eyes
So meet them for coffee
Or bagels and lox
But you better run for your life
When someone yells out «Shots!»
Drinking with industry you’re crossing a line
They don’t need to see all those dark places in your mind
Looking professional is what should be your goal
So don’t show them your tortured soul
