And I wonder is it kind
And will it understand that it’s provision as a practicality
Gave mechanism to a stunning bit of alchemy?
And I wonder is it kind
And when it speaks will it speak grace and with pardon?
As I have let the light linger upon it
So longingly and resting where it may
And if this is how
I strive my way along another blinding page
When looking at it now
I will be kind and therefore never will I find it strange

And will it move with clemency or will it bow and startle
Lurching back into the fabric where at first I caught sight of it
And so begat an elegy?

And what will it see of me?
Will it see that I am right or wrong
In letting it preside as I have
Chiding me into yet another song?
And I have allowed my mind
Autonomy to wanderingly stray
Into fanaticism of a daring kind
And therefore never will I find it strange
And if this is how
I strive my way along another blinding page
When looking at it now I will be kind

As I have waited half a century or more
Which is why I let it drag me to my knees
Then belly down along the floor
And I have allowed my mind
