Making Me Better

This last year, I’ve been trying to grow
Worked on improving myself
The negative thoughts that I felt
But some things are fighting to go
Pray to God that He might help
Hang this stuff on the high shelf
Lose its grip like a tight belt
And over time I have been shown
Everything needs a bit of patience
You don’t get swole overnight from a single weight lift
Meaning I may not be where I want to be, but I
Am right where I need to be, shut my mouth as Jesus speaks

I’m the type of person preferrin' the small crowd
Lowkey, keep it casual, not one to ball out
I’m not really into parties, they’re rowdy and all loud
Get drunk and then fall down, say somethin' that y’all clown
I need to get better a being in big groups
Been shy my whole life, and I’m feelin' a bit cooped
Too stuck to my comfort zone thinkin' that it’s glue
Sis told me to leave it, I needed that reproof
For a while, I have struggled with my confidence
Had some flaws that held me back before I conquered them
It’s still a battle that I’m fighting if I’m honest and
I’m done with being consumed by those thoughts I was ponderin'
The same God who changed Job and Moses
Told me He won’t leave and don’t quit
Work hard, pray hard, that’s when change comes
Keep walking with the one your blessings came from
