Tell My Mind

I’ve been hiding here for way to long
Nothings going right
Praying someone will sing along
It’s the same prayer every night
I’m not sure what you’ve been thinking lately
I try not to think at all
I need rest and some hope right now
But you’re never gonna call
So I just tell my mind to be quiet now,
And let my heart think of you
So I say to my mind, be quiet now,
This is nothing to think through.
What I’ve lost has been lost for some time
I hate it but its true
The same old things just let me down
But disappointments nothing new
Maybe I lost my mind but I know I haven’t changed
I know my way is mine and it rhymes right with my name
Thinking seems to bring both life and death to me
But its something I’ve got to do
Though storms always bring a bit of pain to me
These clouds are clearing soon
A hurricane just blew through town
Its branches are at my door
There’s just something peaceful about a summer storm
I find it kind of odd that the tides turning too
I’ve learned how to smile,
But can’t forget you
