Merry Christmas 2015

I was anxious to visit the church last night
I needed something to tell me it will be alright
I put faith in me for so damn long
I’m beginning to see where it all went wrong
Still I put up a tree with our little boys
On Christmas I’ll have them
So that they can open their toys
Merry Christmas mom and dad
I know my heart should make you sad
But there will come a point where I would get by
When I wake up tomorrow I’ll try not to cry
I was anxious to write to your friend last night
No matter the outcome she said it’ll be alright
But I can’t listen to that, I believe we are more
The four of us together is what I’m fighting for
Still I can’t make you love me and I understand
How can you ever return to that man

I’ll cover my hurt, so I can carry your loathe
I’ll keep drawing those pictures
And I’ll keep painting those toys

If we’d just opened our hearts and just tried again
So I will be thankful, I finally see
That selfish old man that you lived with
