Opened up a letter, I wrote to myself.
It was postmarked 7 years before.
What are the reasons why I don’t want no babies?
I will not insult intelligence and sit here and name these.
I knew then that later, I was going to ignore.
A change on the inside?
Or a switch on the outside?

I have two important pieces of paper now.
This one says «give this boy a job».
But they don’t come too often anymore.
The other says, «you two love each other very very much».
So celebration flows but sanction ebbs.
Can you believe I want a child now?
After so much whining, and resistance to A change on the inside?
