Guardian at the Gate

I came across the ferryman
And to get me to the other side
I paid the face and took his hand
And enjoyed the calming ride
Things haven’t been so easy
The journey isn’t what I believed
You are always welcomed here
But you can never leave
I just can’t find my way
I just want to go home
A thousand years of torture
I have to try and make my escape
The one thing that stands in my way

The charred remains of heaven
Have turned us into slaves

They say there’s a way out of here
But I can only look through the fence
I’ve tried so many times before
Can strength be through persistence?

Shed the skin of the outcast
