Shadows Black

Well I don’t even remember
The first time they appeared
It was so long ago
A different time
A different life
But the horrors
Remain the same
When I was a child
The innocence of my youth
To the things unknown
From the darkness of sound
I cannot see but I know that I wasn’t alone

Is this a curse or gift
Who is this is person that I see
I’m afraid to believe even though that I know what I feel is real
Paralyzing me
The shadow it calls to me
It’s everything I fear
It’s everything I feel
Is this shadow real
It’s calling out to me
Staring at the threshold of my own evil
Lies something far more sinister
And as the shadow takes hold, I feel the pressure
He moves like the blackened smoke from the fires down below
The dark it swallows the light tonight
And the dark I fear the most is my plight
When the night becomes so clear
I’m the one they do not fear
They speak to me and they whisper my name
Call to me back home again
If I go I will never come back
