Surrounded by Strangers

It doesn’t matter
If I’m surrounded by strangers or you
It’s getting hard to tell the difference between the two.
And what’s sadder is that there are occurrences
that prove I know myself even less than I ought to.
Can we just address this thought?
We both might be better of left untaught.
After all, It’s all those first impressions
that determine how we act around each other.
I can’t let that mold my path.
It’s gonna take at least a year in
between us to fill in all the cracks.
Cuz honestly it stings when you split me in two to count my rings.
They may be few but you don’t dig deep enough to find my roots.
So I don’t know.
Maybe I can grow around some people and places that I don’t know.
It’s gonna take at least a year or so.
