behind the flowers in the place i stay
she breathed in and took my breath away
i was a stranger in a denver hotel lounge
she sat across from me on a crushed white velvet couch
we shared red wine till our lips turned blue
talking all about the crazy things that people do

the taxis bring the high heels home at night

he thinks back to his vegas honeymoon
and how they danced all night in that hotel ballroom
as the old man thinks a young man drinks
a drink too big for him but it’s alright
