Souls Worth Saving

don’t speak until you mean every word.
and i am sorry for any promises i may have broken,
but i just couldn’t watch you hurt anymore.

make it count, show me the reason that i believed in you in the first place.
we’ll drink until we quiet ourselves, and we’ll run until we are free.
and i’m afraid that somewhere someone is keeping score,
and when it’s time to settle i will have to admit to myself
if i truly believe that i have a soul worth saving.
because if there’s a heaven i’m not ready to see it.
my friends who think of dying need to be reminded that living is so worth it.
