Yelverton Hill

A ring is an awful thing when it comes in the middle of the night
and the voice on the other end’s crying
Anger’s an enemy when the flesh turns to memories
up on the mantelpiece frozen in silver
I weigh 138, but I’d like to lose more weight
but there’s no time to celebrate — I will when I choose to
I’ve told a million lies, some of them I’ve told twice
and some of them aren’t very nice and they might surprise you
I’d like to get a spade, I’d clear all the ice away
and I’d take down Yelverton Hill where it stands still
