I Can Tell

I tried for understanding this
But I never faced it
Instead, fight what I’ve seen
I tried to have an open mind
That kept becoming clouded by reality
In spite of what I might be told
I can tell when something’s wrong

We never lost the closeness
It became a matter of
A life of verity
Perhaps what we had shared most
Was a sense of emptiness
That seemed to fill our needs

I think I’m done with trying
