Wonder Why

Oh gentle breeze blow me away, follow the sun
Throughout the day
Please let me see all that is done, brightened by
One who sees it all
One summer night, I sat to count the grains of
Sand within my palm
Stopped to breathe, saw the stars and counted
Them until the dawn
I felt the loneliness of lovers wishing on
Fountains, so I stopped countin'
And I wonder why I ever wondered why
A traveling man searches by day, wonders by
Night throughout the land
Without a plan oh that he may, wish that he
Might to understand
I crouched down low to let the water wash the
Dust off my hand
Only to find it leaving me with nothing more
Than stars and sand
I felt a disregard for knowing what I was missing
So I stopped wishing
And I wonder why I ever wondered why
