Where Am I Going Wrong

I followed the winding path to the valley of the blind
Where I entered this place over by the welcome sign
I wondered why the sign was not manuscripted in Braille
I looked for an answer from the sentry… to no avail
I walked into a room and saw the devil in the flesh
He startled me by poking his brittle finger in my chest
«What is it you believe do you admire the one from high above?
Or are you one of those highway drifters lost
…outside the realm of love?»

Where am I going wrong is there anyway I could steer my ship…
Back to the path of righteousness away from my aimless drift?
Into the arms of a lover who will never ask me where I’ve been
Always looking to temptation my most enduring friend
There were random abstract paintings hanging from the willow trees
Who in this place could see the hidden meaning in them anyway?
As I turned to leave the room I tripped on an empty can
The devil sat there smiling with my head held by his hand
Is there anybody here deep in the shadows of my soul?
Is it possible that this young woman will see me and follow me to my home?
I doubt it I’m afraid I’ll be alone in the darkest night
Without the music and the magic just thoughts of eternal flight
