Standing on the road to Eden
A million miles to go
A man of God whose odds aren’t even
To be what he would know
Stopping for a lonely moment
To choose his only way
Dropping on his strongest knee
He bows his head to pray
I am not unlike that pilgrim
Seeking my own path
Weak, I fight to find my will
To walk as who I am Living in this world it’s hard
To «thine own self be true»
Funny how the world gets hold of you
Should I, would I, could I Walk the way?

I’m trying hard to get a handle
On things that I desire
Burning both ends of a candle
Only feed some fire
Things may come on silver platters
To intrepid youth
But everything I’ve found that matters
Comes on wings of truth
Every pain and every pleasure
Plays a vital part
But everything I’ve come to treasure
Lays within my heart
In my mind I try to fight for
What I think is good
Without doing what the world
Tells me I should
Will I fall over every rock and stone?
Will a hard love cut my heart to the bone?
Will I take some turn and find myself
Lost and on my own?
I don’t want to be alone
