Weather On The Wood

Weather On The Wood

Carrying around an old guitar that smells like cigarettes
I can hear the weather on the wood
Feels like she needs new frets
But it’s still here, now where are you?
Does somebody hold you like I used to?
I’m back out on the road, my time is spent so fast
I never know where I am or where I was last
But I feel my way through the dark, I find my way to you
Does somebody love you like I used to?
I try and make a bunch of strangers smile, it’s what I do
It seems to work everywhre with everyon but you
My eyes are heavy my heart is too
Do you think of me? I dream of you
Power lines and highway signs there’s open land in view
All it does is remind me how far I am from you
I’ll be away from home, I’m just a traveling man
Will you wait for me? I’m coming home when I can
My heart beats with the people I meet
Made a friend around every town
It seems right when I’m burned-out they keep me burning down
The sun’s coming up, it’s getting warmer out here
It’s good to see California, it’s been a long, a long, it’s been a long,
long year
I’m uprooted in the wind rolling like a wild tumbleweed
I met a friend in Telluride I broke a heart in Tennessee
But I’m so tired, I’m just so tired
