I pray for dem who cut me down who try to make me frown
Who push me hard into the water try to make me drown
Throwing paint into my face so I looked like a clown
And laugh at me behind my back when I head into town.
I pray for dem who say mean things and judge me like a fool
Who tell their friends and neighbours, all who’ll listen that I’m far from cool
Make up stories to hunt me down with lies and other vicious tools
Stick the knife into my back weigh me down this tired mule so I know what to do

I want to dig them out the dirt like a precious gem

So I forgive the ones who throw cold water onto flames
Trying to put out the fire and then pass the blame
Speak ill of all others who’ve been allies to this dame
