Flying Dreams

Flying dreams, I’m fleeing the scene
Sitting over a shaky wing
Or running down a corridor
With baggage I’ve never seen before
Trying to make a plane in my flying dream
Flying dreams, I’ve got my own wings now
And I’m passing through a patch of clouds
The birds avoid me they know it’s wrong
To try and fly above where you belong
But the air tastes so very clean
Up here in my flying dream
Sometimes I call you on the phone
From up inside a plane alone
And I ask you if your love can rise
Because I’m lost and terribly high
«If you regret your destination,» you say
«make it up in your imagination
It doesn’t have to be this way
Why don’t you try a flying dream
In which you stay?»
Flying dreams can turn ugly too
The plane nosedives out of the blue
And spirals out of control
When everything was so still before
That’s the risk you take when you’re not awake
In your flying dreams
Flying dreams, I’m up here again
Looking for a place to land
I can see the cities down on their grids
The cars move in patterns just like the birds
Everything has its place it seems
