the salt water dries upon my skin
and the waves keep on crashing crashing in
i stand on the shore with my back to the wind
but my voice keeps on calling out to him
i remember the day you sailed away
with my tears in your hair my feet in the clay
your ship was a shadow your ghost my only friend

twelve years of letters set out to sea
