It’s been a long time coming.
These feet have been confined
To a bare cell, on death row.
Yes, my sentence was unkind.
21 years in a prison cell
For something I didn’t do.
When no-one in the country believes you
There is nothing you can do.
But I never forgot how to dance,

They battered all my ugly bones,
They bashed out my good teeth,
And in my cell over many nights
A cacophony of grief.
I did all my best to cope
As the best years passed me by.

Where the truth has overwhelmed
The lies of this bent justice,
An innocent life condemned.
