Thirteen Years Old

I’m only 13 years old
Already life’s cold
Can’t talk to mama
And today my daddy died
Tell me why I couldn’t cry
They always say that life will go on
But all I got is my house and my lawn
My dog, my brother, my school and my friends
And now that he’s gone does it mean it all ends
Tell me why I couldn’t cry
I hadn’t even begun to swear
All I remember is his stare
And now that he’s gone I can feel him even more
I’m just waitin' for these tears to pour
Tell me why I couldn’t cry
Will my brother understand
What it is to be a man
Will my mother stop her tears
Or will this go on for years And years / Tell me why I couldn’t cry
