I wait by the water fountain at school
You’re bound to come past on your way to the classroom
You’ll walk by with your friends
And I’ll stare down at my shoes
Rehearsing the phrasing of a question to ask you
About biology or something we need
To read in a book
And hope that you don’t misconstrue
The aches and pains of the heart
Are a battery able to be from the start
Of the day to the night
When the stars and moon start to shine
And I can pretend when I close my eyes
That my feelings for you
Have actualized
And we’re lying beside
And our arms and legs intertwine
