Amidst all the whores and fiends I misplaced my solemnity
Last but not least on a long list in life of casualties
I walked back and forth retracing my steps
Where I’d been and who I’d seen
Through an open door into an empty bed
To my hands and knees
Looking for some kind of a sign
A deadly disease
Or a homeless man
Who knows my friends by name
The sound of sirens and heartache
Can be heard in the distance from where I lay
Stretched out, the only child of Aergia
In the room, rubble and ruins
If I lie still long enough for my heart to stop
Will I find what I’d lost?
