My hammer’s met a thousand nails
I pummel, forge and crack
I like it that way
I elevate and raise the beast
I drown in my own sweat
No need to explain
I’m travel weary
But I somehow find the grit I need
To make another temporary home
The cynics see me as light and breezy
They think I win the crowd
With ruffles on my gown
They think I’m rich and they grab and snatch
But they’re blind to see the tear stains
On my hand-me-downs
I could be shattered
But I don’t believe a jagged heart

With every new beginning I have made alone
