I remember way back long ago I used to ask my mom
Where my father went and why he had to go and if he’s ever coming back home

But the truth is I was a young boy and at times it had me sad
Cause growing up I would never have no memories of my dad
It was embarrassing cause my friends would ask why it was that he never came

And I thought about what my mama said right away I changed
