You and I Plus One

Now it’s you and I plus one
and life will never be the same
Now a family has begun with a child we have yet to name
He has beautiful hands, he could be a musician,
who knows what he’ll grow up to be
A painter, a poet, perhaps a magician,
we’ll just have to wait and see
Day by day and step by step
we’ll keep him safe and watch him grow
We’ll see he has the love he needs to face the world
he’s soon to know
Look, his eyes are mine, but his smile is yours

And like you and I, he will live and learn
With life give and take, he will have his chance

The boy will soon become the man
and he will leave the nest to go
