She’s walking on, singing of beauty
And her light that’s always on
Singing to her people, leading them home
To their roots, to the truth
She journeyed to Africa
To her grandmother’s family
She was Aja, medicine healer
Of the plants of the forest
She loved singing and dancing
Aja, their beautiful queen,

They came with chains
to take them away
changing their lives
Forever that day
Taken from their families
Over the ocean, so far, so far away
Hidden from the sun to greet her day
No fresh air or freedom
Only the strong survived
Barely holding onto their lives
So many lost at sea
So many suffered needlessly…
