Margaret Cho, You're A Star

I got out of the hospital.
I was afraid to stop working out because I didn’t know
what would happen so I just cut back to five days a week.
And I finished taping the episode of the show.
And I went to New York to wait of the announcement of the fall
schedule to see if we were going to series,
and I was in my hotel room at the Paramount Hotel in New York City
and I was in my room.
And I got the call from the President of Disney who called me
personally on a Sunday to say
«Margaret Cho, your pilot is going to series.
Margaret Cho, you’re a star!»
It was, for the first time in my life, acceptance.
You know, I’ve never found acceptance anywhere.
Not from my family, not from kids in the playground,
not from high school (and)
certainly not from other stand-up comedians.
I had never found acceptance until that moment.
I felt real.
I felt alive.
I felt like for the first time in my life, I was not invisible.
It was a glorious feeling,
it was a thousand champagne bottles popping.
