This bullshit pop keeps me up at night
I don’t think I’m doing it right
But who’s to say what’s right? If it’s all just record sales, then we’re all
fucked
I look at those that inspire me
Then I look at my own abilities
And I wonder how I thought I could ever run with the big dogs
Then I’m reminded of what’s hot
It’s all a checklist of all that I am not
I write my own songs, I play guitar
At least I’m showing up at all
I made a bunch of enemies
Most of which I met professionally
We should bury the hatchet
We’re all leeching off of the same twelve notes
And maybe we can start a cover band

Most of us ain’t doing too hot on our own
We’re all a little misunderstood
So we could start one big ass supergroup
It’s okay to have an ego
As long as everybody gets a turn
And I don’t really care what songs we play
As long as everything’s gonna be okay
Life’s too short not to try to start your own cult once
We can split the t-shirt sales
And tell the trolls to go to hell
If they don’t like it, they can play by the rules
And write a diss track for some message board
