Stepped outside for the first time in days
Been solitary in so many ways
When I pull back the screen
Feels like I’m sixteen
Found an emotion that I can’t away
Campfire smoke and apple trees
Are bringing up old memories
It rises up when I’m tired and alone
I wish that I could come home
It’s only been phone calls for a while
Spent too much time wishing you were here
Soon we’ll look back with a smile
Can’t wait to talk about this year
I pretend that I’m not stuck in LA
I try a recipe that my mom used to make
And I made way too much
So I save some for lunch
Even though it doesn’t taste quite the same
It’s just looped in cellophane
