Like A Lie

She used to be like anyone else would be,
to be like anyone else would
she seemed to cry when everyone else would cry
to sigh when everyone else would.
And deep inside she was just like a kid,
or act just like a child would
She seemed to know what everyone else
would know, to know as little as.
Like a lie she cried and a lie she whispered,
Like a lie she cried, and a sigh she whispered,
She found the truth in a dark and cloudy sky,
With walls of stone and concrete,
She used to think that and vice was hard to find,
And grace was one of a kind
So when the play became her only truth,
And she became the haunted,
She locked herself inside her daily life,
And she held eyes shut.
There in the cloudy sky, she asked him why,
And he said it’s for the money
And something then inside her said goodbye
And he seemed to small and funny
And though the days and years and months went by
For once time didn’t matter.
She seemed to be like anyone else would be
