Who Am I

She walks home from the gym with her fashion magazine
And she sees the builders giving her the eye
She steps into the shower and exfoliates her legs
Puts product in her hair and blows it dry
She picks the perfect outfit to accommodate her day
And she rolls her stockings right up to her thighs
She looks into the bathroom mirror and puckers up her lips
And she wonders: «Who am I? "
She never thought she’d wear a padded bra
She knows that what you wear is who you are
It’s who you are…
She still has incense somewhere in a drawer
But she knows she’s not a hippie anymore
She’s a cover SVP
She’s an almost VIP
People think she’s 24, but it’s a lie.
She hits an after party, after eating Japanese
With a «this week’s new, best friend» close by her side.
She has powder on her face, and powder up her nose
And she’s jealous, but she can’t remember why
She catches her reflection in a glass of pink champagne
And she wonders: «Who am I? "
She never thought she’d be part of the trend
She knows the people judge you by your friends and your foes
She listens to the kinks behind closed doors

And she’s prepared to overlook his tie
She hears him make a joke and she sees him make a move
And she’s deciding if she’d rather die
She looks into her tiny mirror in a tiny handbag

She never thought this suit could be her lover
You judge a broker by his cover, and his was great!
She says she’ll never be a corporate whore
