My Board

As I go and I grab my board, I can hear some waves are breaking on the shore
Some how I know, I know where I belong, somehow I know exactly where to go
As I walk on the sand the footprints are marking my way
I am still on land so troubles are still in my head
But once I stand on my board now things won’t be the same
I’m going to be oceans away inside myself, oceans away
And now the rays of the sun are reflecting and making the water glow
It’s like a dream that I’m living the ocean is making me grow
And though my life is in danger I’m carrying a smile on my face
I see the set coming in as I paddle to be in the right place
Oceans away
We live and then we die
And in between we don’t ask why
We’ve been taken for granted for too long
As I go and grab my board, I can feel the ocean is calling for my soul
Cause in life you’ve got to be strong and move along
Just like the ocean washes the shore
Between the sun and the sea I’m learning about respect
Respect the elders, respect life itself
And now I know that the truth is right in front of our eyes
But we are too busy, we’ve got too needy we stayed behind, oceans away
We live and then we die, and in between we don’t ask why
We’ve been taken for granted for too long…
