Sky on Fire

What has this world come to, have we all gone mad
With strife now second nature and altruism a fad
Ignorance pollutes the sky, our minds, and leaves us lost
So drill away and let decay what’s left at any cost
The sky is on fire and no one looks scared
Our fears have faded and nobody cares
All that we’ve built will be undone
Left to burn along with the sun
The coldest hearts are negligent and take more than they need
They’ll ensure the glacial ice will crack when they succeed
Faith can’t save what matters most nor end what shouldn’t be
But lies can fool and mesmerize, imprisoning the free
The sky is on fire and blue has turned red
Our lives are hanging as if by a thread
All that we’ve killed can’t be reborn
Left to face the end as we mourn
The rain will never come, when all is said and done
When all the clouds are gone, the rain will never come
As ashes take the dawn
