Lion's Head

Darling it came back to me slowly
While I was working in the morning rain
Thinking about how the full moon last night
Danced between my window pane
See, it was over two years ago now
We made our way to the lion’s head
And by this moonlight we climbed that mountain
With a couple blankets we would spread
It was there we moved the pebbles
Gathered up some bigger stones
Stacked them one foot high to block the wind
From entering in, in our new home
To the east, the Mother City
To the west, the brisk blue sea
To the south, table mountain looked north
At an islands history
From the lion’s eyes
From the lion’s head, yeah
We watched the sun dive down the ocean
We watched the city lights flicker and fade
We watched the darkness make love to the mountains
While discovering what the stars displayed
And as I held you, just like the morning holds the sun
The universe ran down our spines
We tasted freedom, we tasted the sea upon our tongues
We tasted everything align, yeah
We woke before the city
Before the sunlight came
Had no rooftop, had no walls
Just horizons as our window panes
You read, I played sweet music
Looking down from above the clouds
Through the clearings the sea was mighty
