It’s been a few days since we’ve said it’s over
Pretend it’s okay, not showing the truth
I’ll sit at home, you’ll wait and you’ll wonder
Wanting to know when we know it’s no use
Struggling for reasons to say it’s okay
It’s hard to give in, it’s harder to break
For over and over it plays in my mind
But excuses are all that I seem to find
So let’s get drunk and tell each other
All of the things we won’t say when we’re sober
Letting the liquid sink in as the words pour out of our lips
And as the blood rushes to our heads
We’ll make a joke or two instead
Of admitting the alcohol’s just an excuse to hurt you better
Farther and farther into this we’ll go
Where it may lead, we don’t care to know
Harder to admit, somehow we still care
I’d rather pretend you were never here
