New Life

I get to talking like I never do
If I can’t talk to you then who goin talk to who
I’ve overestimated my abilities
This is my soliloquy
I’m just peeling back the layers tryna find a realer me
That does not define himself within his capabilities
But I’m capable you see
Yet I duck community
Cuz I rather not subject myself to instabilities
And though my essence isn’t flawed
The outer me is scared
I try not except the reality of it all
Numbers is on the board
And all though I compete I am not one for keeping score
Cuz lately if you ask if I’m happy I’ll tell you no
And ask me what I wanted I’d look and I’d tell you more
Satisfaction galore
I just prayed to the Lord and I asked if He had a law
That prohibits me from speaking to someone that I adore
I guess I’m going civic cuz we ain’t on one accord

Cuz time is of the essence and just can’t afford
To be out here on the floor
Thinking bout what you lost
You knew that from the jump that this journey was finna cost
Evaluating what’s right
I thought that I would lose it all tonight
