That hunter green you painted on the wall last fall
Looks brighter than it did brand new
I never really noticed it before but the more I do all I see is you
Your pale yellow throw pillows are glowing like the street lights on the road
I can move out, leave this house but everywhere I go
The blue in your eyes shows up in the sky
So I’m always praying for rain
The red of your lipstick burns in the sunset
Wish it would fade into gray
Maybe goodbye would be easy if I could see it in black and white

I gotta find a way to dial it down, wash it out
To keep it from reminding me
If only I could filter every shade every trace of you from every memory
I try closing my eyes knowing
It’s just a no good short term remedy
