To Be A Christian

To be a Christian is to bear another’s load
To carry what they hold
When they can’t walk another day
To be a Christian is holding out a hand
To help another stand
When everyone has turned away
To be a Christian
(Is giving love away)
They sat there all alone
Their mother almost gone
Their hope was passing, passing with the time
Should I turn and walk away
Or hold their hand and simply say?
«I may not know your name but I can find
In my heart to share your pain
And in my prayers to speak your name
You’re not alone»

It isn’t always understood
That through our worst, God is good
But when we act with love
It says so much more
There is something said of grace
When it’s written on a face
That can touch a heart it’s never touched before
For to truly be like Christ, it’s not a sacrifice

He gave His life
To help another stand
When everyone has turned away
To be a Christian is giving love away
Wishing doesn’t make the heart stop from hurting
And hoping doesn’t stop someone from crying
But mercy falls so free to those who will believe
Just take another look at me
