I was up in Virginia at a place called Pappa Joe’s
I looked across the dance floor saw a girl I didn’t know
I was really showing off when I took her by the hand
I said come on and dance with me I’m gonna be your loving man

I monkeyed with another monkey’s monkey and I met a gorilla man
We were really turnin' it on and boy I was havin' some fun
And that’s when I discovered I was a holdin' that gorilla man’s hon
We were out on the dance floor when I happened to look around
I saw this gorilla coming towards us he must of weighed three hundred pounds
I had a lot of time to think it over lyin' in this hospital bed
