I want to thank you for all of the letters
That you’ve been sending to me
For it’s good to lean on the strength of my family
To help me get through every day
Without these letters from home to carry me on
My life would fall to pieces
Every word that I read brings comfort to me
I love my letters from home
And it’s good to hear from the woman who raised me
Some things in life never change
When I was in trouble, she was always praying
And sending her blessings my way, thank you, ma
And the next time you write, maybe you could send a picture of yourself
It would really be another ray of light in this miserable place
And be great to see your face every day
