When I first found you, my heart hit the ceiling
You made me forget that, my heart was still healing
Concealing anxiety, you’re like a bomb in the ocean
Disrupting waves causing commotion
She’s like the blues in the sky
The hue of her eyes would assume that I’d shy away
But there’s no time to waste, I’m in a dire strait

So for a moment I put heartbreak in a coma
I fantasize of a life in which I grow bolder
Ask you out on date, you would say «no» first
I snap out of my daydream, regain my composure
My stomach smolders a I walk over to introduce myself first
The butterflies in the room soon disperse
I said
«Hi, my name is Joey. I noticed that you were holding
A case for an instrument. I’m a musician and
I was wondering what you play before I head the other way»
She said
«Hi, I’m Alexa. Not trying to vex ya, I
Play the guitar, for fun, it’s pretty hard
But nice to meet you Joey
I probably should get going
I’ve got to get to the elevator
I’ll see you around later»
Then it turned out that we had physics together
On days that it stormed we talked of inclement weather
Eventually got close enough to ask her to homecoming
She said, «sure» I could feel the end of the «zone» coming
But unfortunately on the night of the dance
She had to cancel her plans
She wasn’t feeling well, so then my feelings fell
Into a healing well, she didn’t show up for days, leaving me in a daze
I couldn’t focus, then hocus pocus she reappeared
Her «sickness» was worse than I feared
She apologized for missing the night
I said, «it's alright»
Things got back to normal after the scare
I wanted to ask her out, but I was too scared
So I came up with a cool questionnaire
I asked her, «What's your favorite food to eat?»
She said, «Nothing with noodles please.»
I asked, «Where are you from?»
She said, «I'm from the city, you bum»
I asked, «What's your favorite type of music?»
She said, «I like to sing when I can choose it.»
I asked, «What's your favorite color?» guessing her reply in my head
She said, «My favorite color is red»
So then I told her my feelings (feelings, my feelings, feelings)
She said, «Joey at this time, I’m still 'healing'. I love you as a friend and I
hope you take value in that.»
And I did, but it felt like all the value just spat
Back in my face, I was a disgrace for ignoring the signs
She said, «my favorite color is red. How about you?»
I looked down in disappointment, my favorite color was blue
And that’s the story of what happens
