Willow Seed Serenade

When you dared me to jump
There was no one around
I just couldn’t say no
As the willow seeds fell down
I was nervous, but determined
Like this was something, that I must do
The rocky edges, the river below

Sometimes it makes me question what it is you’re getting from me
But in the tiny whirlpools and slow, drifting currents
I can hit you with the gospel from the stone skipper’s sermon
Try to live it as if nothing is significant
Without letting the moments pass with tumbleweed indifference
The river rinsed me; could’ve been science or divinity
Don’t matter what we call it, I’m just happy what it did for me

But answers lie everywhere and now my eyes detect them
So while some would reach in hopes to climb to Heaven
