Hard Life

I was caught up, lost, mixed up in drugs
Never knew where to go when I was growing up
Imagine, being placed in a place with foreign faces
Words I never heard before
Gunshots going off in the block at the spot we live, killing women and kids
Driving down the highway, try to take it slow but you get caught up in the fast
lane
It’s a hard life
Brought up in the streets, with nothing to eat, no shoes on our feet

Always watching our backs for terrorists attacks, no time to react
It’s a hard life
Every passing time, day by day making nickels and dimes

Barely getting through the night, not the easy life

Not everyones born with gold and riches
We live in reality and not a dream
Children reading books and magazines
Following what they see on TV screens
Feeding their self-esteem with someone else’s dream, who they try to be
Working three jobs to make a living, pressures breathing down and losing oxygen
Every time we try to make a difference, things just keep getting harder
So we just close our eyes get on our knees, pray things will get brighter
You see if you just believe, its not as bad as it seems
But the moment you wake and see the light
